On This Day in History, May 4th...



1919: May Fourth Movement: Student demonstrations take place in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China, protesting the Treaty of Versailles, which transferred Chinese territory to Japan.

1942: Songwriter Nickolas Ashford is born in Fairfield, S.C. He and his wife, Valerie Simpson will co-write many pop hits.

1961: American civil rights movement: The "Freedom Riders" begin a bus trip through the South.

1969: No Place to Be Somebody opens in New York. It will win the Pulitzer Prize the next year.

1989: Iran-Contra Affair: Former White House aide Oliver North is convicted of three crimes and acquitted of nine other charges. The convictions, however, are later overturned on appeal.

Thanks for the props but it should really read

1986: A cynical Chinese-American kid is born coincidentally on the same day as one of the most important dates in Chinese history. This child will go on to be a blogger for On the Writer's Block and create a spin-off blog titled "Yellow Rebel." An obvious homage to the events that took place on 1919....
